Ploy Pichaisri

Ploy is drawn to the character of a place long before its logistics. She grew up moving between Bangkok and the south, and somewhere in all that back-and-forth she picked up the habit of reading a destination the way you read a person, patiently and with an eye for contradiction. Her guides tend to open on a scene rather than a checklist: the particular walk a neighborhood asks of you, the exact hour a beach turns from crowded to worth it, the quiet story a fishing town tells about itself if you stay past lunch. She believes you choose where to go with your imagination first and your spreadsheet second, and she writes for that moment of choosing. She swims in open water, shoots on film, and has a weakness for the last ferry of the day, when the light goes soft and everyone else has already gone home.
